What is this lump on my thigh? Circular hard

I've had it for a very long time its painless unless i try to squeeze it then it hurts. I really want to squeeze it hard and hope the lump goes but wont do that as worried about it becoming infected or contagious.
Does it need medical attention? should i get it removed before anything happens to it?

Yes i think you should see the GP, it may require a cream, or medication. When i pop bumps, like this on my skin, they immediately go down but then it grows again and gets worse, so do not pop it. See the GP first for the best course of action.
