Help for my son severe atopic dermatitis

Hello I’m very new here. My son has had bad eczema all his life he turns 12 in March but things got really bad about 18 month ago and the eczema changed 80% of his body is covered and he spends most of his time looking like he’s been dipped in acid. We are currently on daily baths with dermol 600 hydromol ointment, betnovate, viscapaste bandages. Fexofenadine, and weekly methotrexate which causes horrific mouth ulcers, nausea and fatigue. He falls asleep at school so is falling behind he has allergies to all animals dust and house mites pollen (grass and trees) we are obsessive with cleaning the house especially his bedroom and we have put an air purifier in there also. I’ve been reading that water changes can effect the skin and in the last few years there’s been a change in where our water comes from this can’t be a coincidence I’ve looked into water softeners but everything is so expensive is there anything out there we could apply for help with things like this my partner and I both work so we have never been on any form of benefits.
We are so desperate for our happy little boy back.

Hi diannastraughton@yahoo.co.uk,

Sorry to hear about your son's struggles with eczema and allergies. Unfortunately we are unable to give specific medical advice on individual conditions here but we do have a support programme currently running specifically for children with eczema.

Please check out the link below where you can find details about the support programme:

http://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/psp/eczema.php

You may also find of interest an allergy clinic that we are currently running till the 14th of Feb.

Hope you get some answers soon.

Kind regards

You could try a foreign cream, i do warn you that they work better than British creams but they are more likely to cause side effects.
