My GP had an IPL (intense pulsed light) machine but he wasn't making enough money on it so after a while, he sold it. He said he had looked into it and it was the only thing that was clinically prove-able. was he right?

Intense pulsed light or flash lamp therapy has a number of clinical uses. It can commonly be used for hair removal and to treat freckles, age spots, redness, fine lines, and for general skin rejuvenation. There are, however, other laser devices that can also be used for the above indications so clinical assessment is important before any treatments are carried out.

Many thanks for your post. I agree with Dr Mahto. There are many different types of technology used to treat ageing skin. Intense pulsed light is one of the most popular. However there are many others which have been proven to be effective and there are some even more efffective. Fractionated lasers for example have been proven to be very effective at addressing certain aspects of ageing skin such as fine lines and wrinkles
