Cervical smear

On behalf of a talkhealth member:
I've recently been called for my cervical smear. I have gone through the menopause and when I went for my last one 3 years ago they struggled to do it as I was very dry down below. Is there anything I can do prior to the next smear to make it easier to have done?

Thank you, Sarah

Re: Cervical smear

I would suggest that you could talk to your GP or practice nurse about using vaginal oestrogens for 6 weeks before the cervical screening. you can use this in the form of a small pessary put into the vagina or cream.
