Constipation & migraines

Hi, I generally get a migraine when I am constipated.... Or do I get constipated because a migraine is building up? Thanks

Re: Constipation & migraines

Hi. I recommend that you keep a diary so that you can start to identify what the triggers are to your migraines and to your constipation. You could keep track of what you've eaten, drunk and how much exercise you've had, and anything that could be stressful/difficult in your life, as well as your bowel movements and migraines. It might be easier to then identify what might be contributing to the migraines and constipation, and if and how they're related.

One thing that can contribute to both is a poor oral fluid intake - so keep well hydrated! Eight cups of non-caffeinated fluid (not including fizzy drinks or alcohol!) is a good start.
