constipation

My 84 year old mother has had bad constipation for the last 4 - 5 weeks. I am a full timer carer for my mother. She has a good varied diet but does have diabetes type 2. She has been taking senokot which has helped a bit. She has the urge to go but when she does it does not "drop from her body" as normal, she has to wipe it away. She is due to see her doctor but cannot get in for another 4 weeks. Thank you for any advice.

Re: constipation

Make sure she is well hydrated. Try increasing fibre ,add linseed to food etc
You can use laxatives such as fybogel or Laxido but you need to get to your GP for prescription.
