Illeostomy loop

On behalf of a guest member:
I had an illeostomy loop operation 3 months ago with absolutely no problems, am now receiving chemotherapy every 2 week's, and am wondering how long after chemotherapy it will be before my reverse operation can take place.

Re: Illeostomy loop

There is no set time. The best people to ask would be your surgeon or the cancer nurse specialist who is looking after you. As a general rule of thumb, it is best to wait until you (and your bowel!) have recovered from the effects of the initial surgery and the chemotherapy - and this will depend on the initial surgery (and whether there were any complications), the chemotherapy given and your general health.
