Child IBS symptoms

Our 8 year old daughter suffers from regular stomach cramps and difficulty going to the toilet. We saw a paediatric consultant in gastroenterology last year who diagnosed her with probable IBS. She also has multiple food allergies. When she was on holiday recently, her symptoms disappeared and then came back on her return to school. We have been giving her probiotics on a daily basis for nearly a year as suggested by one of the dieticians at the St Thomas' Allergy clinic but there is very little that seems to alleviate her symptoms. Do you have any advice as how to help children with these symptoms? Is it worth seeking a second opinion as IBS was not a definitive diagnosis? Many thanks

what are the food allergies she has ?
has she had evaluation to make sure there is no evidence of eosinophilic enterocolitis which is gut manifestation of allergies
That her symptoms disappeared when was abroad may indicate that she is better in an environment where the allergen load is different
it is important to rule out eosinophilic enetrocolitis as if that is the diagnois she may need specific treatment whih includes oral medications to keep it under control

As a starting point can ask GP to prescribe ketotifen ( antihistamine ) and see if makes any difference
