I have a scar on my abdomen from a hernia surgery. It still itches 3 years later. Is it going to itch for the rest of my life?

Scars are unfortunately permanent but the itch should not be permanent.

There are a lot of things we can do to help scar itch and the options are many:
a) Massage and moisturisation
b) Laser
c) Medicines like antihistamines or low dose anti epileptic drugs like gabapentin/pregabalin
d) Steroid injections/tapes
e) Silicone tape/gel
Referral to a scar specialist might help you to decide what option might be best for your scar.
