Itchy scars.
I had a drain inserted in my neck, about 8 years ago. I now find just recently that the area above the scar is thickened skin. I have been to my go, who said nothing to worry about.

Hello,
If the scar is raised and itchy, it is most likely hypertrophic or keloidal and would benefit from treatment which includes silicone, steroids, possibly laser(pls note this is not widely used in the NHS) or simple massage and use of cool non perfumed moisturiser. If it is causing itchiness then it is likely that the scar is active. Your GP can refer you to a specialist clinic for this treatment.
