Re: Best ingredient for acne

Thank you so much for your question! I have answered this elsewhere - what products to use for acne-prone skin are a common theme. It is hard to pick the right treatments as the beauty industry is keen to sell, sometimes with little science behind their claims. I will repost my answer below:

Good acne skincare is more about the ingredients than the products. Good skincare need not be expensive. I would aim to look for cleansers and moisturisers or leave-on toners which contain the following agents:
salicylic acid
niacinamide
glycolic acid
tea tree oil
benzoyl peroxide
lactobionic acid
zinc
retinol
retinyl propionate

If despite the regular use of these agents, you are still not getting on top of your skin, i would suggest it is time to seek medical advice. You may need a prescription agent (cream or tablet) to help.

We are not allowed to discuss specific products, however, from a personal point of view, I find salicylic and glycolic acid face washes helpful, as well as targeted spot therapy containing salicylic acid to put onto a large spot when it comes up.

I hope that helps and best of luck.
