7 year old with eczema
My 7 year old has severe eczema he bathes and uses steroid cream/ointment daily. He has done patch tests etc.
He creams approx 6-7 times a day but he still constantly scratching and his skin still remains flared up all the time. He also gets boils when his eczema gets really bad and one did turn into an abcess that he had to go to hospital and have drained under general anaesthetic. He also has very large tonsils all the time and gets bouts of viral induced wheeze which he has been admitted to hospital for on a few occasions. Are all these linked and what is there anything else I can do to help him?

Re: 7 year old with eczema
Thanks for your post. Eczema can be made worse by a number of factors including after infections particularly staphylococcal infections. The eczema sounds quite severe in this case and poorly controlled. If he/she has not seen a consultant dermatologist it sounds like they would really benefit from seeing one. If the eczema cannot be controlled by creams then sometimes oral medication is needed but specialist review would be needed first.
