Persistent neck eczema
Hi there, I have a 14 year old who's had eczema from birth and although flare ups only usually happen in summer, she repeatedly has eczema appears at the front of her neck, which is a really thin area so i'm very reluctant to put steroid here.
What do you advise?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Persistent neck eczema
Many thanks for your question. I would suggest the general principles of eczema management:
1. No soaps or shower gels or fragranced washes - opt for emollient agents for skin cleansing
2. Regular emollients or moisturisers to be used at least twice daily
3. Topical steroids to be used for 7-10 days then switch to anti-inflammatory treatments such as Protopic or Elidel longer term as maintenance. these avoid the long term concerns about steroid treatments.
Best wishes,
Anjali
