ITCHING

As a 53 year old with eczema (all my life) I control it the best I can with steroid ointment - 2 to 3 times weekly along with 500g emollient a week. At the moment I can't seem to get any relief from itching. I can control it in the day whilst at work but in an evening I cannot sit for long without twitching all over (like crawling ants under skin) and when I go to bed I wake up scratching most nights. Have tried piriton hydroxyzine cetirizine loratadine and telfast, nothing helps. Any advice...please

Re: ITCHING

Hi and thanks for your post. It's useful to try and see if there is a trigger that may be making the eczema worse. If its related to the increase in warm weather then taking steps to cool the environment would obviously help. You may need stronger steroid creams or even a short course of steroid tablets to help reset the skin and your GP or dermatologist might be able to help with this
