hairline

I have eczema around my hairline and it gets worse in the hot weather. Should I be using a different emollient cream for the summer?

Re: hairline

Dear Jolinar

Many thanks for your question.

During warmer weather the heat and sweat often causes further irritation to sensitive skin and exacerbate eczema. I would suggest getting any active patches on eczema on your hairline under control quickly with topical steroid solutions which can be prescribed by your GP. In addition it is important to minimise any potential allergens and irritants you may be applying onto the scalp eg use sulphate free shampoos, avoiding hair dyes and fragranced products and try not to use any leave-in styling products whilst the scalp/hairline eczema is still active
