Moustache and beard

My husband has dry flakey skin around his moustache and beard. Sometimes the area around his moustache looks red and it can be sore and itchy. He is sixty one and has had the condition for years. He takes Ramipril for high blood pressure . We eat a very healthy diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables . We would like advice on how to manage the condition please.

Re: Moustache and beard

He might have a condition called seborrheic dermatitis. This is a dry skin condition. It is not significantly linked to diet. try washing the beard daily with ketoconazole shampoo over the counter at pharmacies for 2 weeks and if there is no improvment see your gp as you may need a stronger cream
