Recurring cellulitis

Hi

Ive been having recurring bouts of cellulitis. My GP says it is common for it to recur, but I'm conscious it is affecting my day to day life as I was on antibiotics, double strength for two weeks. Firstly I'm not really wanting to keep taking antibiotics as I also have a chronic liver condition. I have tried lots of types of creams to keep moisturised which don't work. I check for wounds as sources of reinfect ion but also at the age of 42 am conscious of wearing shorts etc due to the state of my skin. Please do you have any advice.

Thanks

Tony

Re: Recurring cellulitis

Dear Tony,

I am so sorry to hear about your skin problem. Recurrent cellulitis can cause a lot of suffering. Regular maintenance prophylaxis antibiotics (e.g. penicillin) can reduce frequency of recurrent cellulitis. Because of your liver condition your GP may like to have it approved by your hepatologist.

I hope this is helpful.
With Best Wishes,
