Prostate Cancer
On behalf of Neil:
My Father died as a result from prostate cancer in 1982, aged 46.
I’m aware of my increased risk as a family member but I want some advice on the best course of action.
I have regular PSA tests although I realise opinion on the usefulness of them is divided. As a 52 year old man, what should I be doing to minimise my risk and should I be asking for regular check-ups with my GP for either a scan or an examination of the prostate…it is a considerable concern.

Re: Prostate Cancer
It is sometimes helpful for a doctor to physically examine the prostate rather than rely on a blood test on its own (Digital Rectal Examination). These days if prostate cancer is suspected men will have an MRI scan before proceeding to take biopsies.
