Milk spots around the eyes

On behalf of a member:
I have like milk spots around the eye area. I have spoken with various people, unfortunately no one seems to know how to get rid of them. I am very self conscious of them, as I have never had any problems with my skin before. I am 72 years old. I don’t know if this has any bearing on the cause.

Thank you. Hazel

Re: Milk spots around the eyes

Hello, I have lots of them, as far as I know they’re to do with high cholesterol as they’re fatty deposits.

Re: Milk spots around the eyes

The likelihood if they are small white dots is that they are milia, small collections of a harmless skin substance keratin. These are very common around the eyes and can be extracted gently with a needle. An aesthetician or dermatologist could do this. Other causes could be Xanthelasma, which are much larger plaques of yellowish-white which predominantly appear on the upper eyelid. These are related to high cholesterol. See your GP to ascertain the cause in the first instance.
