Dry skin in the winter

I am a 52 year old women and every winter I find that my skin gets very dry. I was wondering whether the heat from the radiators effect my skin and dries it out. I know that the cold weather does.

Re: Dry skin in the winter

Absolutely! Indoor heating significantly dries out the skin and increases water loss. Even reducing your thermostat by a couple of degrees can be helpful. In addition, use a regular moisturiser, perhaps with a thicker consistency than usual, and avoid soaps and shower gels which can further dry the skin. Use an emollient-based wash instead.
