For the last 10 years I have had the most itchy skin.it started on my back but is now every where I have tried every thing on the market but nothing is effective. My doctors is not very helpful he gave me steroids creams but these are only effective for a while. I don't sleep i am embarrassed to go out it has taken away my quality of life.

Sorry to hear this.
Dermatologists deal with this problem a lot, it's known as chronic pruritus.

The first thing is to establish there is no underlying reason for the itch, so do ask your GP about blood tests (such as iron and thyroid). Make sure you are not on any medication which can cause itch. Creams containing 5% menthol can be helpful as well as ingredients such as urea and lauramacrogols. if these don't help, we sometimes use tablets or even light therapy so ask your GP for a referral to a dermatologist.
