Melasma

I used to have really good skin but since having children, I started suffering from some acne/blocked pores. Over the last few years, I have melasma and the dermatologist has prescribed kinoren and now adapalene. Unfortunately, the melasma is not lightening. I use spf 50 everyday. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks you

Re: Melasma

Hi
I have melasma too. It started about three years ago on my back, neck and now I have patches on my forehead
I read online that taking cod liver oil helps. I have tried this but cannot notice any difference. The dermatologist has given creams but they do not help
I would be grateful for any advice too

Re: Melasma

Thank you very much for your questions. the first line treatment - sun protection (use sunscreen factor50 in summer). The usual next step is azelaic acid cream or gel. The next step is very tricky but depigmenting lotion can be tried VERY cautiously. If it is of interest you can read more about melasma and available treatments on my website.

I hope this is helpful.
