The skin on the heels of my feet tends to get very hard and often cracks in the winter - what products would you recommend to help with this. Normal moisturising cream seems to do very little to help.

I have scleradoma and suffer from raynauds. The skin on my hands gets very dry and splits on my fingertips at the corner of my nails. Can you suggest a really moisturising and soothing cream I can use

Dear Sonya,

thank you for your question. I am very sorry to hear about your feet problem. You may need a very greasy moisturiser e.g. hydromol ointment or Epaderm ointment or Cetrabene ointment. Try to moisturise at least twice daily of more often if you can. If it does not help ask if your GP can give you a strong steroid ointment e.g. Betnovate ointment or refer you to a dermatologist. Sometimes patients need an allergen test (patch testing) or very strong medicines e.g. Toctino, the latter requires close monitoring by your dermatologist.

I am so sorry to hear about your hands problem. Fingertips in scleroderma can be really challenging. I would suggest a very greasy moisturiser such as Epaderm ointment, Hydromol ointment or Cetrabene ointment, as often as possible. You may find that Balneum plus cream is soothing. You may also want to ask your GP or dermatologist if they can prescribe a very strong ointment for your fingers e.g. Dermovate ointment. Sometimes iloprost infusion may need to be administered in hospital.

Thank you very much for your help with this, I shall try epaderm ointment most definately. I have betnovate ointment which has been prescribed for psoriasis which I also suffer from. Do you think it would be ok for me to use this on my feet without talking to my GP first.
