The return of the removed mole

The return of the removed mole
I recently had two moles removed after my baby being curious kept picking at them.
I had them removed and kept them clean and away from my baby but, they seem to be growing back and my son is thrilled his cuddle spots are back arrgh!
I've got an appointment in a couple of weeks to see the nurse but, is it normal for the moles to return?

Re: The return of the removed mole
Hi there,
There are a number of ways of removal a mole.
If the moles were lumpy and bumpy and they were removed superficially without stitches, then this may explain why they have returned as the roots do not appear to have been removed.
If they are still posing a nuisance for you (clearly not for the little one!!), then I would recommend an elliptical excision. This simply means going deeper and using stitches to close the hole, both dissolving underneath and non-dissolving on the surface which would need to be removed.
Hope that helps!

Hi. Yes as Dr Hafiji says moles can recur particular if the roots or edges aren’t completely removed. This is more likely when they are excised by shave rather than by deeper elliptical excision
