Moles on lower/upper eyelid can affect eye sight

Is it true moles on lower or upper eyelid with age can affect nerves around the eye and in turn affect our eye-sight?

Re: Moles on lower/upper eyelid can affect eye sight

Hi there,
The mole would have to have pretty deep roots for it to infiltrate the nerves and subsequently affect the eye.
In 18yrs of medical practice, I have yet to see such a case.
I would recommend you see your GP for an assessment first and if he/she is concerned, I'm sure they will make the onward referral.
All the best!

Hi. Yes I agree with Dr Hafiji. I also haven’t seen a mole that can affect the nerves around the eye. Melanoma of the eye does occur but that’s quite unusual and skin cancers can spread to the brain when they are very advanced through which they can affect vision but that’s also unusual. Moles can affect vision if they are in the line of sight for example large ones on the side of the nose
