13 year old girl

Postby bluebutterflies73 on Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:41 pm

Is there a link between psoriasis and female hormones. A 13 year old girl has psoriasis on elbows and on scalp and wonder if this links with unsettled hormones?
Thank you

Thank you. I am afraid psoriasis is a very common condition affecting up to 5% of population (1 in 20!) and most often it affects elbows, knees and/or scalp. It is more common if one or both parents have psoriasis. Psoriasis can start at any age. I think it is more likely to be a coincidence. If you would like to read more about psoriasis treatments you can see my other posts or my website. New treatments for psoriasis are also being developed and I tweet about them as they become available.

I hope this is helpful.
With best wishes,
