Itch can be due to a number of reasons in your knee scar.

a) Normal scar. Itch is associated with healing and it might be that if your surgery is within 12-18 months, the itch will get better with time. Practical measures to help the process include applying cold moisturising cream (kept in the fridge!) and massaging the area with from circular movements 3-4 times a day. Occasionally an simple anti itch tablet over the counter may help.

b) Bulky scar. If your scar is raised, lumpy and tight, it could be you are developing an hypertrophic/keloid scar, which may need treatment with a number of options being available including steroid injections/tape, silicone tape/gel, laser to mention few.

The type of scar you have could only be diagnosed on the basis of a medical examination.
