secondhand smoke

Postby sickofsmoke on Thu Mar 12, 2020 12:59 am

I don't have any respiratory diseases, but there was no place to post this. I want to find out if my experience with secondhand smoke is typical or not. I've had terrible luck with renting apartments, often winding up next to a chainsmoker, which causes me to have respiratory problems, nausea, etc.

I wonder if I have an exceptional vulnerability to cigarette smoke, or whether this is a common problem.

I moved twice last year to get away from secondhand smoke, and I am about to move again. There are no laws where I live regarding smoking in apartment buildings, although it is prohibited in all public buildings. Landlords can prohibit smoking in their buildings, but they don't seem to have any way of enforcing it.

Hi sickofsmoke,

Thank you for posting on the forum regarding your symptoms with second hand cigarette smoke. It certainly sounds like you've had really bad luck regarding second hand smoke and your accommodation over the years. Unfortunately we are unable to give out specific medical advice but hopefully other members who have experienced similar issues and associated symptoms with second hand cigarette smoke will reply to you.

Please find some useful links to information on second hand smoke and how it can affect you:
