cyclosporine for eczema

Postby claudineskiles on Fri Mar 20, 2020 11:35 am

Hi New here. I'm at my wits end. I have had eczema all my life. my skin is horrible looking from all the steroids. In the last year, I got it on my face, I've never had it on there before (im 50) I'm so embarassed to even go out. any way the dr has given me steroid shots and its not helping. so they prescribed cyclosporine. Has anyone ever heard of this being prescribed before? if anyone has it on their face what have you used and has it worked? any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks :D

Hi claudineskiles,

Thank you for posting on the forum and sorry to hear of your frustration with eczema. Unfortunately we are unable to give specific medical advice on individual conditions here, but please find a link to information on eczema from The British Skin Foundation's website. They say " People with severe or widespread atopic eczema not responding to topical treatments may need oral treatments (taken by mouth). These work by dampening down the immune system and are given under the close supervision of a health care professional" One of the options is cyclosporine. Please find link to that page here (under the heading 'other treatments':

Please also find info on cyclosporine itself here:

If you find that cyclosporin isn't helping you may want to look at one of our client's websites here:

They help a lot of people with eczema by balancing the gut with friendly bacteria.

We hope that you find some relief soon.

Kind regards
