Survey results for

January/April: Menopause 2017

talkhealth created a survey in collaboration with Associate Specialist Gynaecologist, Dr Heather Currie to understand more about the challenges women face during this period of their lives, and what impact symptoms have on their day to day lives. The survey gives detailed responses on what symptoms women were experiencing, how menopause had impacted their work and relationships, HRT options, GP advice, and more.

Here are the top highlights from the survey:

  • 60% of women visited a healthcare professional, who was sympathetic but their knowledge about menopause was limited
  • 60% stated that going to see a healthcare professional did not help them to better understand how to cope with the transition
  • 63% had visited websites for support, with 33% visiting forums like talkhealth
  • 50% were either currently taking or had taken HRT
