Survey results for

June/August: Sun Awareness

To gain insights into our member’s knowledge of sun safety and the dangers of too much sun exposure during summer months , we hosted a survey about sun awareness. We received detailed responses about people who spent a significant amount of time in the sun, and those who were already suffering with skin cancer.

Here are the top highlights from the survey:

  • Of those with skin cancer, surgery and tissue removal were the most popular treatments, with 84% of participants stating that they had tried this form of treatment, with 47% seeing their GP, 47% seeing a medical specialist and 22% speaking to talkhealth about treatment
  • Those who didn’t have skin cancer (97%) 72% stated they thought ‘sun exposure’ was the main symptom of skin cancer
  • 96% of participants stated that they would go to see their GP if they feared they may have skin cancer
