Hey I suffer from psoriasis to and have done since the age of 10-11. I got it when I first started secondary school and it was horrible because people would stare at me and I could hear them mumble things about me and even at that time I didn't know what it was!
I started using creams and ointments but the doctor didn't care really I was just another patient to him! I found the creams would work for a while but then would come back worse and more flakey! By this time I was aged 13-14 and people just got nastier and nastier to me! People wouldn't want to go out with me because they were embarrassed and thought they could catch it!
I would dread going out and I was such an outgoing person so I thought something needs to be done. So I asked to talk to a dermatologist doctor, so I had a meeting with a doctor from my local hospital and she could see I had a really bad case of it. I had it in my scalp, on my face, in my ears, behind my ears, all over my body and few bits on my legs.
So she recommended I had UVB Light treatment 3 times a week at the hospital from February to middle of May I had to have a longer session as I got glandular fever (just my luck!!) Now a year later at the age of 16 here I am with it all under control and about 5 tiny spots of it on my body which doesn't bother me at all, I use a special shampoo which has cleared up the psoriasis in my scalp I am so much happy!! So if you haven't already asked your doctor about light treatment and get back to me if this has meant anything to you. Take Care.
