Vitamins and minerals: How to tailor your intake for your age

Vitamins and minerals have long caused disagreement between nutritionists, GPs and their patients. From health crazes and deficiencies to their efficacy and ingredients, opinion can be split with just a mention of the word supplement.

The British Nutrition Foundation says: ‘Eating a varied and balanced diet can provide most people with all of the essential vitamins, minerals and other nutrients needed for good health.’ Yet, in 2018 59% of consumers said they were taking a vitamin, mineral or other supplement and UK spending on supplements reached £442 million.

Chuck the current reports about Covid-19 and Vitamin D in the mix - which, by the way, we will cover a little later on - it seems as though many of us could be splashing out the cash on supplements that aren’t helping all that much.

That’s why at talkhealth we want to clear things up for you.
