Since David Walliams declared that he has suffered with depression for most of his life experts have announced that they believe millions of Britons also suffer and like David Walliams mask their emotions with a smile.

Smiling depression is used to describe those who claim to not be depressed and don’t look depressed however on the inside they may be experiencing panic attacks, insomnia, low self esteem or even having suicidal thoughts.

Doctors worry that this is more damaging as those living unsupported and untreated are more likely to have repeat episodes as well as planning suicide as they feel they are beyond help but cover it with a smile.

Do you suffer with smiling depression? What are your thoughts on it?
