Re: Mold allergy
Well, the theory behind the GAPS protocol sounds great, but I find it hard to follow the diet. The first item one is asked to eat is homemade bone broth, and I am pretty squeamish about cooking with all those bones and strange bits of animals. Eggs, dairy and fermented foods are also major diet item...

Re: Adult Acne
@ Lucy 11 -- Unfortunately, the laser treatment had no effect. I had it done at a place called the Skin Wellness Center, which was affiliated with a dermatology office. When it became apparent that the lasers weren't working, the staff insisted that I must see the dermatologist next door. It was the...

Re: Adult Acne
I am 43 years old, and have had cystic acne since the age of 10. In the past 30+ years, I have tried absolutely every acne medication and treatment known to man, including topical creams, scrubs, antibiotics, lasers, Accutane (twice) and more. Last year, I had my food allergies tested and hoped that...

What to do when elimination diets cause unwanted weight loss
My 13-year-old son has been diagnosed with a long list of food allergies, including gluten, dairy, eggs, corn, molds, apples, carrots, cashews, and much more. He has been following an elimination diet for several months, and is miserable because of the extreme lack of foods available to him. He was ...

Mold allergy
My three sons and myself have been diagnosed with mold allergies and asked to avoid fermented foods. While researching the GAPS Diet (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) I read that fermented foods do not in fact have any mold in them, and are recommended to heal/seal the gut and reverse food allergies. Wh...

Percentage of false positives and false negatives w RAST
How often to false positives and false negatives occur with the RAST food allergy blood test? When a retest is done several months later, will the same false results appear, or is there a chance an entirely new set of false results may crop up?

When are baked eggs safe?
Our pediatrician told us that our egg-allergic son (diagnosed with a skin-prick test at 1-month-old after severe eczema occurred) could safely eat eggs in baked goods, because after 20 minutes in the oven the egg protein would be de-natured, or neutralized. Six years later, my other two sons and mys...

Is symptom-less gluten intolerance possible?
My son had a panel of RAST food allergy tests done last fall, and his results appeared to show that he is allergic to just about everything, including gluten. He has not had typical gluten allergy symptoms - gas, bloating, stomach ache, etc. How likely is a false positive in this case?

To avoid butter or not?
I have heard conflicting reports about whether butter should be avoided with a dairy allergy. Some say there is no protein in butter, and the protein is the allergenic part. Other say it is only in ghee that there is no protein. Still others suggest avoiding butter altogether. Thoughts?
