Re: Hydrocortisone long term use

I got referred to a dermatologist but unfortunately our first appointment was during a week when her skin was better than it had been for a year. I normally try and manage her skin care regime so that appointments are towards the end off her non hydrocortisone week but they moved my appointment so s...

Hydrocortisone long term use

My daughter developed ezcema at 3 months old which I managed with emollients until she was 2. She had a bad flare up at 2 and the doctor started prescribing hydrocortisone. A few months later we were on Eumovate. This kept the flare up under control but she was on it for months (as advised by her GP...

Re: Stressed out mom needs advice

I just the basic skinnies. They did give me the silk ones once by mistake and to be honest they didn't seem to make any difference to her skin. I would rather have more of them (they normally let me have 3/4 sets every 3 months) on prescription.

Re: Stressed out mom needs advice

I have found skinnies suits work wonders. They keep the creams on the skin and prevent scratching (you can get suits with mittens) and you can get them on prescription. My little girl has had them since she was small (now 3) and she wears them under her clothes in the day and instead of PJs at night...

Re: Support for eczema in children?

It has been a while since my original post so I thought I should post an update and thank JimBob and Marcie for their support. Hopefully it might help you as well. After about 9 months of flare up C's skin is finally looking good and we are all getting some sleep. We haven't managed to get off the h...

Re: New User with 2 years old and severe eczema!!

Part of the problem is no one explains the process to you so you don't know what treatment or support is out there. I have been reluctant to push for referral because I assumed this would mean stronger steroids. I am going to have to go back to docs earlier as a week of eumovate didn't completely ri...

Re: New User with 2 years old and severe eczema!!

I am really trying not to be anti hydrocortisone but have been using tubes of the 1% stuff over the last few months. I was originally doing 14 days on 7days off as instructed by the ezcema clinic. The one week of eumovate ointment (0.05%) didn't work so we are now doing one week of that followed by ...

Re: New User with 2 years old and severe eczema!!

Thanks for the info. Feeling a lot better after my gp visit today. In the past I have had contradictory advice from GPs and the nurses at the ezcema clinic which has fuelled my hydrocortisone fears but after having a long chat with the new gp I feel more comfortable with it. I think I was just in a ...

Re: New User with 2 years old and severe eczema!!

I am another new comer to the site. JimBob please could you forward the details of the specailist at the Manchester's children's hospital I am desparate for help with my little one.
