Treatment depends on the type of arthritis; the hand is also quite a 'large' structure anatomically, so more details about where in the hand is affected would be needed. Generally, an examination by a physician would allow a more precise diagnosis and discussion of treatment options.

I'm afraid not. Attacks of pseudogout are often precipitated by an attack of ill-health such as a chest infection, but not necessarily.
