Re: Medication
Hello and thank you for your question. All medications can potentially cause hair loss but co-codamol is not one of the most common culprits. It also depends on the timing of hair loss and when medications were started. If co-codamol is a long standing regular medication you take and yet the hair lo...

Re: Ongoing hair loss
Hello and thank you for your message. There are a multitude of causes for hair shedding ranging from nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalances, stress, medications and febrile illness. In addition certain common conditions such as androgenetic alopecia (common balding) can present with intermitte...

Re: Seeking advice for son
Hello and thank you for your post. Treatment options for hair loss very much depend on the cause. However as your son has lost virtually all his hair from an early age it is unlikely that any medical or surgical treatment would achieve an acceptable cosmetic result regardless of cause. There are how...

Re: frontal alopecia
Hello and thank you for your message. If you have been diagnosed with frontal fibrosing alopecia, I would advise you are referred to a dermatologist for ongoing care. Re: Hair fibres to hide bald patch
Dear Karen, Thank you for your message. It sounds like the pattern of hair loss you have would fit with female pattern hair loss FPHL (the female version of male pattern balding) which is prevalent in women from the 4th decade onwards and is slowly progressive. The meonpause and a history of PCOS ma...

Re: Frontal fibrosis alopecia
Hello and thank you for your message. The priority with any scarring alopecia such as FFA is to ensure the condition is stabilised and progression is halted. This will usually require ongoing medical treatment. Depending on the severity this may range from topicals only, to steroid injections to ora...

Re: One side of hair thinner than the other
Hello and thank you for your message. I think if this change in your hairline and the amount of hair shedding you are experiencing is new then I would advise you see your GP for an initial assessment and preliminary investigations eg blood tests to look for any underlying contributory factors eg nut...

Re: Hair loss & vitamins
Many thanks for your question. In general there is very little evidence to support that taking vitamins/supplements without having a deficiency in the first place is going to have any positive impact on hair growth. It would be best to arrange a blood test with your GP to include common deficiencies...

Re: Derma rollers
Hello, thank you for your message. Dermaroller can improve the penetration of some topical therapies and is commonly used alongside Minoxidil to enhance it's effectiveness (although some patients also describe a higher risk of facial hair growth due to the enhanced absorption) Separately there is so...

Re: Skin 'lumps'.
This may be completely coincidental with you starting Pentasa but the skin lumps would need to be properly assessed by your doctor and or a dermatologist. Occasionally if the diagnosis is not clear your dermatologist may need to take a sample of skin from one of the lumps to clarify the diagnosis
