Re: Methotexate
Sounds the MTX is not suiting you at all.
Why don't you call your nurse specialist tomorrow.
There are other medications they can put you on.
If MTX is causing so much side effects it needs to be changed.
Call them Monday

Re: Family link?
Hi, the hallmarks of RA is joint pain, significant early morning stiffness with reduced grip, and joint swelling. ESR CRP RF are routine bloods your GP will do if suspicious of the condition. The new test anti-CCP, is a good test to do to predict weather you are likely to get it or not. However it i...

Re: swollen knuckles
Hi
if your knuckles are swollen and boggy then this could represent inflammation.
I suggest you see your GP - he may refer you to a Rheumatologist. Have you had xrays? blood tests?
Hopefully they will recommend some treatment that should help you

Re: Arthritis after injury?
Hi,
I think you should go back and get re assessed by your GP.
It is difficult to advise without seeing you.
Generally, muscular pains from a traumatic injury should subside within 6 weeks.
If you are concerned, and things are not improving, let your GP have another look.

Re: Best drugs & natural remedies
There are many drugs available and a lack of head to head trials. If DMARDS need to be started, it is common to use Methotrexate as it also helps the skin psoriasis. Other drugs which are used can include Leflunomide, sulphasalasine. Newer drugs if the DMARDS fail include the biologics. Your Rheumat...

Hi,
I assume you have been referred urgently to a Rheumatologist?
They will involve physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and commence medication to reduce your pain and stiffness.
Have a look:

Re: Long term effects
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition. It will slowly deteriorate over time. Muscle strengthening will help take pressures off the joint. If there is associated swelling with the osteoarthritis, joint injections may be appropriate. There are also other drugs available which your Rheumatologist ...

Re: Neck involvement/headaches
Hi,
i trust you have had a recent MRI of your neck?
If the RA is well controlled, then we are looking at analgesia (assuming the cervical spine is stable)
Gabapentin, Lidocaine patches could be considered.
You should discuss your situation with your local Rheumatologist.
Hope this helps

Re: Is this the start of arthritis?
Hi,
inflammatory arthritis presents with symptoms of joint swelling. joint pain, and early morning stiffness.
What you are describing does not seem to fit this but if you are concerned discuss it with your GP even if it is just for reassurance.
Hope this helps
