Re: 25 yr old, just diag w/ hand eczema, 3 mons WONT GO AWAY:

Hmmm...I have eczema. My fingertips sound just like yours - red, with deeper lines, dry, sensitive to pressure. But the rest of my hands are itchy and red. It's odd that the rest of your hands don't have any itchy spots? Around the time you started noticing your fingertips, did you start eating anyt...

Re: Help with persistant eczema and allergies

Jimbob,

I don't understand WHY dermatologists DENY that eczema is linked to ALLERGIES!!! I find it so unforgivable. Sorry you had to go through all that....

Re: 14 year old girl sufferer

Hi Catherine, Although I'm not 14 now, I remember what it was like to have eczema back then. It was tough because I felt like everyone was staring at me. I had it on my feet, hands, arms, and back of my knees. I too would always find my gloves in the floor the next morning. My mom even sewed gloves ...

Re: Climate/Weather and Eczema

Shunter10,

Totally agree about swimming in salt water. I actually bathe in epsom salts sometimes and it helps as well!

Re: An emotive post - what goes on in your head?

I've sooooo been there. Sometimes the sight of my hands startle me when I look in the mirror. My hands are ugly but that's not how I feel INSIDE. It feels like a betrayal. Self-confidence will always be an issue as I hate those lingering gazes at my hands as if to say "OMG, what's wrong with he...

Re: Help with persistant eczema and allergies

Hi Rebecca, I'm sorry you and your son are going through this. I grew up in the same fashion as your son. It's terrible for him and excruciating for you as his mother. My skin was managed by steroid creams and antihistime shots as well. In my 33 years, I've learned: - steroids only worked temporaril...

Re: Active Treatments

Acidopholis (highest dose possible, 50 billion)
Evening Primrose Oil (2 tablespoons/day)
Selenium

For me, staying away from dairy, eggs, wheat, is very helpful....on top of the things I'm allergic to.

Re: Climate/Weather and Eczema

I just got back from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for 7 days. I was in the sun everyday. I got a nice tan. My face broke out a bit. Ate alot of mangoes, everyday. Now that I'm back home in Toronto, my skin is so much better. I think it was the sun, salty ocean water, mangoes???? Summer is always a...
