Perimenopausal
I have started to get spots around my jaw line and chin. It is difficult to say whether they are linked to my periods as I am peri menopausal and my periods are very erratic.
I eat well and drink water.
What vitamins are particular good?
I take Evening primrose Oil.

Re: Perimenopausal
Dear VK
I am sorry to hear you have spots around your jaw line and chin. Please do see your GP, as you need a diagnosis, acne is one possibility and also a condition called peri-oral dermatitis. They are both treated differently, so you would need medical assessment and the appropriate treatment prescribed.
Hormones can affect the skin, but both these conditions can occur throughout the lifespan.
I hope this is helpful.

Re: Perimenopausal
Adult onset acne is common, especially in women but we do not know the exact cause of this. It is most likely to be multifactorial including an underlying genetic risk, lifestyle factors, stress and hormonal fluctuations and many women do notice a significant change in their skin around the time of the menopause, with some experiencing a flare in acne. With a history of irregular periods it is also worthwhile considering seeing your GP to check for any hormonal imbalances such as polycystic ovarian syndrome in addition to starting some first line anti acne treatments such as antibiotics or prescription creams.
