Eczema and sleep

Hi there i have a teenager son who suffered eczema since little. Recently his eczema has move from the neck to his face. He scratches while he is asleep. He gets really anxious and self consious adding to his condition. Dermatologist had suggested light treatment but my son is adamant what would you suggest him to do to help him during the night time? How can he avoid scratching while he is asleep?
I will really appreciate your response

Re: Eczema and sleep

I am so sorry to hear about your son eczema! UVB light treatment can work really well. A simple measure - keeping finger nails trimmed very short can help a little too. A combination of a mild steroid and tacrolimus/Protopic ointment or pimecrolimus/Elidel cream may be another solution. The next line of treatment would be powerful oral medicines such as ciclosporin or methotrexate. the next line of treatment would be a biologic injection.

I hope this is helpful.
