Prone to eczema on ears

Hi there,

I would like to ask what to ask my doctor for. I am a male aged 52 off work due to various reasons.
1. I am prone to getting eczema on the back and side of my ears. It starts with the burning sensation and itchy feeling which needs a good scratch. Within a couple of days it is just itchy and sore, leading me to pick at the scabs.
2. I don't shave every day, but where I am going grey in my beard, (left and right) side of my chin, and around my upper lip.
It almost seems to come on when I'm stressed, rundown and/or I don't shave for a few days.
I hope you can help, or at least suggest something to ease the pain/problem.

Thank you for reading this, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Prone to eczema on ears

Dear Lloyd,

Thank you for your questions. I think you need to ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist to do an allergy test called patch testing to rule out an exogenous cause of your ear dermatitis/eczema.
I'm not sure about what could be a cause of a temporary greying of your hair. It might be best if your dermatologist sees for a consultation for this.

I hope this is helpful.
With Best Wishes,
