Self Checks

How often ought one to self check and how best to identify a problem?

Re: Self Checks

Checking yourself frequently is a great habit to get into. For some people, it is easier to remember to check themselves once a month (for example the first day of every month), for others when they take a shower as often as they remember to check themselves suits them better.

When checking your testicles make sure to test one at a time. Holding the testicle between your thumb and fingers, roll it gently between your fingers. The more often you do this, the easier it is to know when something is abnormal. Things to look out for are hard lumps, smooth or round bumps on the surface of the testicle or changes in its size, shape and consistency.

If you notice any changes, make an appointment to see the GP so they can examine you and refer you to Urology if they have concerns.
