lump on testicle
I'm 45 and have noticed a painful lump on my testicle recently. I'm worried about what this could be. Do I need to be worried and is it something I should have checked or should I wait to see if it just disappears?
Thanks, Simon

Re: lump on testicle
Simon you should get it checked please
Painful lumps are usually not cancer and much more likely to be infection or inflammation.
But still a small chance it might be significant.
You need an ultrasound scan of the scrotum to check things

Dear Simon
Any lumps down there should be checked by examination and often ultrasound - go and see a urologist or your GP as soon as you're able. It's unlikely to be cancer but unless it's checked we cannot be sure.
Cheers

Re: lump on testicle
Dear Simon
There are many causes for a testicular lump and the seriousness of this can vary greatly. It would be best to have it checked out to eliminate more serious possibilities.
From a herbal perspective, my approach would differ depending upon the diagnosis. If it were an infection or inflammation, I'd recommend herbs like couch grass, bearberry, horsetail, nettle root and cornsilk. If it were an epididymal (fluid-filled) cyst, herbs like cleavers, echinacea, marigold. If it is a varicocele, herbs to support the blood vessels like hawthorn and horse chestnut would be useful.
Best wishes
Pieter
