Re: Why are people "just left"

Talkhealth,

The problem you've had with this forum is that you may not have invited anyone who does prescribe T3 or natural Armour or know about other treatments. You invited the British Thyroid Association but this organisation does not speak for all patients and there are at least two other UK thyroid charities who help patients who do offer people full information on treatments available (unlike the BTA who only recommend T4). People like myself, a hypothyroid patient, came here needing advice on their medication and treatment but there's noone here to help.

I'm on T4/T3 on the NHS, it's helping me greatly and I have questions about it, regarding my personal use of it. But there are no experts invited here who can help. It's frustrating.

I do wish you all the best with your forums and please do have another online clinic about thyroid illnesses. As you can see from the response there are a lot of people suffering. But the next time get a more balanced team of sponsors.

Hello ignored - we really do appreciate all the time you have taken in being part of this forum, and sincerely appreciate making your feelings and medical problems public is a big 'ask'.

We are not thyroid experts - in fact we are not medically qualified at all at talkhealth. I can only reiterate that what we offer is only the platform for enabling NHS Choices, charities, experts and patients to come together in this way.

We cannot see how you could be disappointed with the forum - it has enabled some very real issues to be raised and debated.

I am very disappointed by the forum, legitimate questions are being ignored and patients dismissed as ‘having a rant’.

I am very disappointed in this forum also.

My question about my T4/T3 medication was moved and merged with other posters threads when it was a separate private question topic. I sent a private message to Talkhealth asking why it was moved and to move it back please. My private message was never answered. My forum question was never answered either.

I did not find any useful information from the experts about taking T3 and I often found the private posters to be more informed. e.g. where you can get T3 in 5mcg tablets instead of the 20mcg that are hard to cut into that dose as they are very small, the availability of T4 tablets without the normal fillers and binders that people are sometimes allergic too. Some experts gave general information and occasionally out of date and misleading. Private posters responded and refuted that information with links to recent (and reputable) studies!

Worse than being disappointed, which I can totally understand, I am left feeling even more terrified than I was last week. My very real health fears are being ignored which leaves me thinking the specialists don't have any idea of why I'm having these symptoms. That is far from comforting and the time for debate and exchanging ideas is gone for me. When you have been so ill for seven years, you no longer have the energy of wherwithall to debate, you are clinging on to scraps of hope that someone will come along and know what is wrong and how to fix it.
