Re: Wetwraping and eczema suits advice please

Someone suggested the "wet wraps" had some form of Steroid in it. Is that the case?

Are these available on prescription?

thanks.

Hi

Wet wraps are bandages that are suited for trapping moisture close to the skin - usually a damp layer followed by a dry layer. You can wrap the body part, and apply moisturizer and/or steroid before wrapping. High potency steroid are to be avoided as the wet wrap may increase the absorption of the steroid onto the skin. There's no wet wrap steroid, i.e. bandages with in-built steroid on it. I've interviewed Tubifast on my blog, if you like, you can read their interview (link not provided her due to forum policy).

Take care

Re: Wetwraping and eczema suits advice please

Hi

Wet wraps were the only thing that aided my kids to sleep through!! My son and his class mate sometimes have to wear them to school which is a challenge but they manage. My daugter cannot cope with them they make her cold. But what we were always told was not to put steroids on under them. It increases the absorption of the steroids into the skin. If your child can tolerate them and they help I'd keep using them day and night, wet wraps over moisturiser has to be better than steroids

Mei, have you ever spoke to skin to skin?

I sound like a crazy women going on and on about them, I know. But the suits have really helped my baby girl sleep through the night.

Just wondering if you have any dealings with them?

Thanks.

No worriedmum, I haven't contacted skintoskin. I think I checked out their site before, but they didn't have twitter or an easy way to connect with them. I'm one of those dinosaurs that don't use Facebook :)
