Hydrocortisone / epaderm causing discomfort?

We use Epaderm ointment & cream, and hydrocortisone 1% on my baby's face and body. He seems to hate having these creams applied. Does anyone think Epaderm actually causes skin problems??? Cos both my wife and I have started to see spots on our forearms/skin since using Epaderm. Thing is, we don't see spots on our baby boy, just the usual eczema redness. We used to use Cetraben but a nurse/skin specialist told us it contains preservatives/chemicals which can cause stinging in some patients.

Hi

Creams which are very white can often sting, ointments like Epaderm are very greasy. Try only using the Epaderm after a wash/bath and then creams at other times, Aveeno on prescription is good. The spots on your arms sound like foliculitus which are blocked hair folicles from the greasy creams, my kids can suffer terrible at times. That is why when applying creams always go in the direction of the hair growth. They can be painful to the touch too. If your baby suffers with them then antibiotics/cream may be needed.
