Loosing our mind
Hello my son has just turned 4 and has suffered with severe eczema since he was born. It has taken nearly all that time to do a prick test. We have found he reacts to dust mite really badly, cats, wheat, grass pollen. This makes things so difficult, I know all the ways to try and keep it to a minimal but I'm finding since finding out (and cutting out the wheat) he has got worse. no one in our house is sleeping and the poor boy it tearing his skin to shreds. His 1 year old brother has nothing wrong at all. What makes it harder is that his best friend is our cat Dougie, it would break his heart to re-home him. he did not react at all to dogs does that mean he can have a dog? I just don't know what to do. I'm a young mum of 22 and so inexperienced in life I just wish the health professionals would take me more seriously. It's no joke and we've had enough

Hi Loripop,
so sorry to hear that you're stressed out and your son's skin pretty bad. Having dogs won't be a good idea though, is that included in the skin prick test?
Try keeping the cat out of his room, bathe your son very close to bedtime, use wet wraps, bleach bath..
Take care,
Mei

Hello thank you for the response. we have tried wet wraps which can sooth him a little but usually it makes him scream that it stings. He was tested for both cats and dogs and only reacted to cats. We are going to rehome our cat and hope that makes things better.Marcie Mom wrote:Hi Loripop,

HI Loripop,
Hope everything is better in the new year; on the stinging, you may want to try extra virgin organic coconut oil and see if that stings.. The wet wrap shouldn't be stinging but soothing.. let me know if there's anything you need help with!

Re: Loosing our mind
Wet wraps can be really helpful but my son also complains that they sting. We don't use them now as he was getting really worked up about it. We also found that they were sticking to his skin so were having to soak him in the bath to get them off which was also stinging and he would scream. We last used them for a period of about 2 weeks last summer. Our specialist does not like them used for long periods of time anyway as he feels that they often lead to skin infections.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks! I'm going to pose this stingy question to Tubifast, the maker of wet wraps.
I understand from a pediatric dermatologist that once the skin looks moist after wet wrap, should discontinue, ie not wearing it non-stop
Cheers!
