Bad eczema problem since young
Hi guys.
I've been having eczema since i was young and i believe it is genetic as my father's sister ( my aunt ) has the same problem as well. I have a few links which shows my eczema condition on my hand when it is dry and wet. This problem has been hounding me for very long and i wish to get it cured. People say i should put some moisturing cream. However, i often come in contact with computer and i dont wish to make my keyborad oily. I wonder if anyone is able to give me some advice on what food should i avoid or maybe the type of content in soaps that i should avoid.
Thank you.
Below is the link for my hands which contain eczema.

Hi Bryan,
Moisturizing is so important because it protects your skin barrier, and in some ways, if you eczema rash is triggered by contact with irritants, moisturizing may reduce the likelihood or the severity of such flare-ups. You can consider wearing gloves, and apply moisturizer. There are some eczema garment, that also have gloves.
Diet for one may not work for another, so asking for a diet to follow from personal testimonies may find you a solution. For instance, different food allergy, different circumstances surrounding the time when the diet had 'worked' for the person, the form of the food - cooked/raw also come into play. Treatment of the rash is important, as well as not scratching. A healthy diet, with fruits and vege included and fast food, sugar excluded is good for one's health.
As to what soap to avoid, avoid soap..use cleansing lotion without ingredients like fragrance, dyes, SLS which more people tend to be sensitive to.
You can check with your parents' their medical history and your own when you're young - a doc who's seeing you will need such info! Look forward to your updates,
Mei

Thanks for your reply.
Glad to see a fellow Singaporean in the forum.
I would like to ask do you know where to buy the eczema garment?
I'm not very sure if Guardian or even NTUC sell such garments.

HI!
I only know of Dermasilk and Tubifast - the former is not sold in Singapore (I think) and I'll check the 2nd for you. You can understand more of what they are from my blog, interviewed the operations director and product manager respectively.
Take care!

Re: Bad eczema problem since young
I have been struggling with the battle between my acne and eczema for years. Anything my doctor prescribed for my eczema made me break out and any product I used for my break outs made my eczema flare up again. I had pretty much given up when i stumbled across a youtube video about the Qbased Solutions All Stop Eczema Cream Combo Pack http://shop.qbased.com/non-toxic-eczema ... spk005.htm . Between the samples and the good reviews I figured I didn't have much lose. My skin improved over night! I've been using the products for a few months and my eczema hasn't flared up once! I finally have the skin I've always wanted!

Eczema is inflammed and itchy skin and treatment has to include moisturizers, anti-inflammatory treatment and antibiotics when needed. You will know this, as a life-long sufferer and also that there is no cure or quick fix. You are using moisturizers and they should be creamy (non-greasy) in the daytime and perhaps greasy in the evening. You do need to use steroid creams or ointments that are right for the eczema you have, depending on where it is , how bad, wet or dry. There are non-steroid creams (Protopic / Elidel) but they often don't work on the hands. Some people need tablets to dampen the immune system. You may need contact allergy testing (patch tests) to see if you have become allergic to any of the creams of things you touch. You may need antibiotics if infected.
It's very complex, you have an excellent skin service in Singapore so get checked up. Sadly, food avoidance and supplements do not help and always beware miracle cures that cost you money.
